You can­not miss the fortress of Salzburg: the majes­tic cas­tle is perched above the city cen­ter and is vis­i­ble from afar. Here is the short­est way to the restau­rant in Salzburg Fortress.

Salzburg Fortress — Salzburg’s land­mark — located in the heart of the Old City behind the cathe­dral. You can walk up to the Fortress or take the funic­u­lar rail­way, which takes you directly into it, and imme­di­ately brings to the restau­rant.

Direc­tions by car
From A1 /​A10 Vil­lach and Munich A8

Take the exit for the air­port and drive into town along the ‘Inns­brucker Bun­desstrasse’. At the junc­tion of the ‘Inns­brucker Bun­de­strasse’ and ‘Neu­torstrasse’ turn right and fol­low the road all the way in the direc­tion of ‘Zen­trum’ (Cen­tre). After about 2 km you reach the Neu­tor (Sig­munds), directly before the Neu­tor you can turn right into the old town garage for park­ing. In the garage you will find sign­posts direct­ing you up to the Fortress (Fes­tung Hohensalzburg).
