The so-called “Christkindlmaerkte” (Christ Child Christmas Fairs) in Salzburg are a huge public attraction. Starting at the beginning of December you can experience one-of-a-kind Christmas Fairs in Salzburg’s city center. Here you can not only find Presents and Souvenirs but you can also get acquainted with some of the culinary specialties of Salzburg. The baroque city center shows itself all decorated and dressed up during the time of Advent. In many places Advent and Christmas Fairs await you. The most beautiful of these is the Salzburg “Christkindlmarkt” (Christ Child Christmas Fair) at the Cathedral and Residenzplatz (Residence Plaza) and also the “Hellbrunner Adventzauber” (The Magic of Advent Fair in Hellbrunn) which lies directly at the gateway to the city.

Hellbrunner Adventzauber (The Magic of Advent Fair in Hellbrunn)
Advent Fair at the Hellbrunn Palace
A relative newcomer among the Salzburg Christmas Fairs is the Hellbrunner Adventzauber im Hof von Schloss Hellbrunn (The Magic of Advent Fair in the Courtyard of the Hellbrunn Palace). Its picturesque location as well as the many attractions for young and old (A petting zoo, A Winter Fairy-Tale Train, and much, much more) has quickly turned it into one of the most beloved Christmas Fairs in Austria. When the Fair commences you can not only stroll through the stands and purchase Christmas gifts but you can also visit a Nativity scene exhibit inside the Hellbrunn Palace. Children can delight at the sight of the living Nativity that’s located on the site of the Hellbrunn Trick Fountains.
